A Summary of the "Save our Salmon" Initiative (#2)
"An Act Protecting the Salmon of Bristol Bay by Prohibiting the Destruction or Degradation of Salmon Bearing Waters"
PURPOSE--
The purpose of this Act is to protect salmon habitat from destruction or degradation as a result of large scale mining activities in the Lake and Peninsula Borough
EFFECT--
This Act would amend the Borough's development permitting code to prevent the development of any large-scale resource extraction activity (including mining activities) which would destroy or degrade salmon habitat.
If enacted, this Act will become effective immediately upon certification of the election results.
